Yemen's territory once was part of the Ancient Kingdom of Sheba, or
Saba, a prosperous link in trade between Africa and India. The bible
speaks of its gold, spices and precious stones as gifts borne by the
Queen of Sheba to King Solomon.
Location:
Yemen is located in the south coast of the Arabian Peninsula. The
total population is estimated at about 21 million (July 2005). Yemen rapidly growing
population 3.6% (should eventually provide enough customers for its
industry). The total area is 527,840 sq. km. Yemen is bordered by
Sultanate of Oman in the east and the Arabian Sea and Gulf of Aden in
the South, Saudi Arabia in the north, the red sea from the west. The
strait of Bab A-Mandab is located in the southwest.
